Welcome to Concordia Lodge No. 4480
A straight forward site for anyone interested in Freemasonry and how to join.
Freemasonry is a way of life
based on the values of
What do Freemasons do?
Freemasons enjoy great social activities and share a good laugh. We enjoy being Freemasons, it adds a real purpose to life and a chance to give something back to society.
Freemasons are one of the largest contributors to Local and National and International Charities.
We learn more about ourselves through a series of small plays (ancient ritual) in which we learn to take our part.
We go out and visit other lodges both at Tapton Hall and all over the country/ world. The masonic way of life is recognised throughout the world.
Being a Freemason gives you the opportunity to meet, share ancient ceremony and dine with a variety of new friends.
We enjoy going to events organised by other Lodges and Freemasonry in the Community -- a committee on which Concordia is well represented and is made up of Masons from many different Lodges.
Concordia is rather special in that we have a well established Ladies Group and our families are included whenever possible.
Our responsibilty is first to our families and the laws of the land in which we live. We DO NOT crave political power or to run the country, or the world, as some creative writers would have you believe!
We are NOT a religion and there is NO Masonic God. Every Mason professes to believe in his own God and so Masons can meet in harmony and peace.
We strive to be good men who are learning to be even better.
We meet at Tapton Hall, Shore Lane, Sheffield on the 4th Monday of each month usually at 6.30pm apart from June, July and August.
There is usually a rehearsal for the next ceremony on the preceeding Wednesday at 8pm.
There are no meetings in June, July and August but there is often a Garden Party or Event organised by Freemasonry to attend.
After our meeting in the Lodge Room, we circulate via the bar to one of Taptons dining rooms where we are served with a three course meal and coffee. Toasts and conversation is enjoyed at this our 'Festive Board.'
Our Ladies enjoy a similar social meal in another dining room at the same time as the members of our Lodge. They help to raise money for a Charity of their choice and support the work of the Masons.
Freemasonry means different things to each of those who join.
For some, it's about making new friends and aquaintances.
For others it's about being able to help deserving causes -- making a contribution to family and for society.
But for most, it is an enjoyable hobby.
Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations.
It teaches self-knowledge through participation in a progression of ceremonies.
Members are expected to be of high moral standing and are encouraged to spaeak openly about Freemasonry.
